Interview with Kelly Seibold, by K.C Poitras

Updated: Mar 7

Approximately 20 years ago, Kelly Seibold started her writing career as a fanfiction writer for General Hospital. She had also started writing a series called The Healing Series. Kelly was only on her third chapter in that series when she met her husband and stopped writing in that story. She stated: “It’s like that had left her when he came into her life.” So, the Shattered series was abandoned. Working together, they wrote a series called Smallville fanfiction. When the show ended, so did that series. This past year, in the middle of the night, she woke up with the rest of that untitled bike story in her head. She wrote it down on paper before she could lose it. She figured out how to publish it. On December 2020, they published it.

Let’s hear from Kelly

When did you decide to become an author?

I think I have always wanted to be one. I love reading. I am a huge Little House on the Prairie fan and my brother told me years ago that if I ever wrote a book, my pen name should be Elizabeth Charles. As you can see, I didn't do a pen name.

How many books do you have published?

4

What is the hardest part of writing?

I would say finding readers that like your style of writing. I've struggled. Most romance readers like 1st person, and I'm more of a 3rd person omniscient person. I grew up reading Harlequin. They are all third person and it's what I'm comfortable writing.

What does your everyday routine look like?

I get up, take my daughter to school, grab the laptop, and hope the words come. I wouldn't say I go into a cave or anything. I don't cut off social media. I write more in short bursts between checking on other things, making ads, etc. I am a list maker, so I make a bunch of lists. I have a calendar that is just for my book stuff, and I just found out you can color-code it. lol (I'm a dork) I'm in the process of making everything digital. I still write things down.

What genre do you write?

Contemporary Romance. Some have some mystery, others don't.

What would you tell an author that starting their first book?

Just write. Also, do not release a book without marketing. Biggest mistake ever!

What’s your latest release?

"Beautiful Scars" It was just released on the 31st of August. It's book 4 of The Healing Series!

What’s are you working on now?

Book 5 of The Healing Series!

Tell us something we might not know about you?

I once broke 3 arms in less than a year apart. One playing basketball and the other is lifting weights, trying to impress a boy. Side note: She had broken 1 arm, then approximately 6 months later broke both wrists (must have been a cute boy) lol

What do you do for a break/fun?

I love sports. *Go Braves! * And football season is upon us. #TitanUp. And my husband and I like to take our daughter places together. I love traveling.

It was such a pleasure getting to know Kelly. We had a few laughs over the broken arms! I had the privilege to be on her ARC team and read Beautiful Scars. It is truly a wonderful story with some twists and turns. As always, authors are looking for Arc team members and reviews! So, don’t be bashful to hit her up if you’re interested. Thank you, Kelly, for taking the time to let me interview you.
